Great Britain’s got tourism in their pocket because of gin
Attracting thousands of visitors to Britain, the region has become the epicenter of gin spirit-tourism, according to reports from local distilleries.
Gin distilleries in Britain report an increase in visits from abroad. They come for tasting sessions, distillery tours and even to book hotels for a complete experience.
The gin market is worth approximately £1.9 million. Last year, more than 66 million bottles were sold, almost twice as many as 2016.
The Ginstitute, for example, reports an increase in its tourist bookings. These have increased by 2000 per cent since 2015. On the other hand, distilleries like Beefeater have received tourists from all over the world. From Russia to Australia. Every month, more than 2000 visitors come to Beefeater.
The Tourism Board of Great Britain also indicates that there is great tourist interest in tasting British gin. Patricia Yates, director of VisitBritain explains: “The growing and diverse range of gin distilleries and visitor experiences inspired by gin across the country, from tasting activities to tasting and blending, are helping to raise Britain’s profile on the international stage as a food and beverage destination“. –The Telegraph
