“My best and favorite cognac” by bartender Giancarlo Mancino
Giancarlo Mancino is a talented bartender and entrepreneur from Pignola, Italy. He talked to us about three types of cognac, his favourites and the best for him.
Mancino has built its reputation by working with the best bars and restaurants until it became one of the most famous and respected bartenders. With more than 20 years of experience in the world of cocktails and entrepreneurial spirit, Giancarlo has created his own company GiancarloBAR Ltd, based in Hong Kong and specialized in bars and drinks. He is particularly passionate about the vermouth category. He is also the creator of the Mancino line of artisanal vermouths and Aperitvo Rinomato. The latter, of exceptional quality, are readily enjoyed alone and enhance both classic and creative cocktails. The panel of aromatic notes and flavours of each of the Vermouths offer superb perspectives in the world of mixology. In 2019, its brand was voted Top Trending Vermouth by Drinks International.
Congratulations Mancino!
Giancarlo Mancino’s favourite cognacs
Augier Le singulier Cognac
This cognac is the product of fine eaux-de-vie from Fine Champagne and Folle Blanche, a very characteristic grape variety. The mixture has a beautiful copper-yellow hue. The nose is first subtle and precise. As it swirls, fruity notes of pear, vine peach and apricot appear. After a lively and direct attack, typical of a spirit without additives, the body is round and subtle in the mouth. The intense fruit aromas are balanced by the discreet woody aromas on the finish. It is a cognac with character made from the forgotten Folle Blanche grape variety, which represents less than 1% of the current plantations of the appellation.
The Saint Preuil Grande Champagne XO Cognac Guild
Rich, round, with tones of oak, tobacco, chocolate and raisins. The finish is complex and powerful. An opulent and dazzling body.
Gautier Tradition Rare Old Reserve Cognac Rare
Mahogany in colour, with a nose of sweet roses and rich and complex aromas, we have discovered wonderful fruits and spices. An intense note of rancio.
Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
